Aggies Begin LSC Play Thursday
September 15, 2010LAWTON, Okla. – After its exciting five set win Tuesday, the Cameron volleyball team returns to the court Thursday evening at Lone Star Conference foe East Central. After the Aggies match with ECU, they will play at Southeastern Saturday afternoon.
Cameron (3-5) will look to improve on its two straight wins, and move closer to the .500 mark. In the Aggies last two contests, they have been led by junior Adrienne Lawson, who has 32 kills and has hit .316, while the defense has racked up 18 blocks. Freshman Jenna Keeler and junior Sarah Corbett each have nine blocks during the run
Also playing well in these two games has been freshman Megan Olivarez, who has a team-best five service aces, while five others knocked down two.
East Central comes into the match 0-10 having dropped its match Tuesday at Arkansas-Fort Smith. The Tigers have won just three sets this season forcing a game five with Arkansas Tech and winning a game against Western State (Colo.).
Southeastern, meanwhile, is 2-6 this season with wins over Missouri S&T and New Mexico Highlands. The Savage Storm open up conference play against Midwestern State Thursday in Durant.
Following the two matches on the road, Cameron will return home for three matches starting Thursday, Sept. 23 against Texas A&M-Kingsville. The Aggies conclude the homestand Tuesday, Sept. 28 with Mid-American University.
