
Stewart and Diata Earn All-Lone Star Conference North Division Honors

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – Senior guard Josie Stewart and junior guard Sabelle Diata from the Cameron Aggies women’s basketball team each took home high honors at the annual Lone Star Conference Awards Banquet held in Bartlesville, Okla on Tuesday.Stewart was named the LSC North Division Academic Player of the Year as well as being named to the All-LSC North Honorable Mention squad. Sophomore guard Alexis Williams was also named to the All-LSC North Honorable Mention team.
Diata garnered All-LSC North First Team honors after a stellar first season with the Aggies. She was also named the LSC North Division Newcomer of the Year.
To be eligible for LSC academic honors, student-athletes must have reached sophomore status and carry at least a 3.30 grade point average. The All-Academic Team is selected from the list of academically qualified players, with the league’s sports information directors voting on the basis of both academic and athletic achievement.
Stewart, leads the Aggies in three point field goals made and attempted (60 of 178), free throws made, attempted, and percentage (131-of-151/.868) and is second on the team in points per game (15.4), minutes per game (32.5), rebounds per game (6.1). In just two seasons with Cameron, the senior elementary education major became the school's all time leader in three point field goals attempted and made.
