Goodwin Announces New Addition To Women's Golf Team

LAWTON, Okla. (Nov. 21, 2011) –Rick Goodwin, head women’s golf coach at Cameron, announced the signing of Frisco, Texas native Alexis (Lexi) Thompson. Goodwin said he is excited about Thompson and believes she has what it takes to compete at this level.

“She’s played a lot of golf,” he said. “There are a lot of good players out of the (Dallas/Fort Worth) Metroplex. Those players coming out know what it takes to compete.”

Thompson attended Wakeland High school in Frisco, Texas and is set to enroll for the fall of 2012. She gained priceless experience on the Texas junior golf tour, legends gold tour and the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA).

In her high school career, Thompson was named an All-State golfer as a junior and rewarded her senior year by being voted a captain by her peers. She brings a scoring average in the 70’s, as well as a 3.8 GPA. Lexi Thompson is the daughter of Terry and Darcy Thompson

“I’m looking for her to get into the line up pretty quick,” Goodwin said. “She like the school and liked the team. She will be a great fit for our program. She fits in well with the other players. I’m excited to get her here.”
