
Diata Picks Up Fourth Defensive POW
February 20, 2012LAWTON, Okla. (Feb. 20, 2012) — Coming off a 54-48 victory over Texas Woman’s in the Aggie Gym, Sabelle Diata was has been named the Lone Star Conference’s Defensive Player of the Week for the fourth time this season.
Diata was a force against the Pioneers, finishing the game with 19 points, eight rebounds, six blocks and one steal. The Senegal native’s post play helped Cameron to hold Texas Woman’s to only three field goals in 20 attempts (.150 fg percentage) in the second half during its 54-48 victory. Diata is the focal point for an Aggie defense that has consistently been ranked in the top-10 in the nation for the majority of the season.
Diata and the Aggies (15-8, 11-7) will look to add to its school-record 11 conference wins Wednesday with a battle in Portales, N.M against Eastern New Mexico (9-15, 7-11).
