Lawson Shoots 71 in Opening Round at NCAA Nationals

Trey Lawson posted a 1-under 71 today in the NCAA DII National Men's Golf Tournament. His opening round score positions him in a tie for 12th place on the Cardinal Club Golf Course in Simpsonville (Louisville), Kentucky. Lawson had six birdies along with 5 bogeys and was upbeat coming off the course, "I played pretty well today. I made a few birdies and stayed calm throughout the round." Lawson trails leader Josh Creel of Central Oklahoma by six shots in the 54-hole tournament. Cameron's Lawson is the only Lone Star Conference player in the field of 108, qualifying as an individual out of the Super Regional held last week.
