Cameron clinched a berth in this year's Lone Star Conference postseason tournament on Thursday, posting a 70-60 victory over Central Oklahoma at UCO's Hamilton Fieldhouse. The Lady Aggies are scheduled to close out the regular season at home on Saturday afternoon against Northeastern State. First-round action in the LSC tournament is set for Tuesday, with the top two seeds from each of the conference's two divisions (North and South) hosting first-round games.
Thursday's win improved the Lady Aggies to 14-12 overall and 7-4 in the LSC North. UCO, which notched its first conference victory of the season last weekend, slipped to 7-19 and 1-10.
Cameron raced to the early lead on Saturday, limiting the Bronchos to just 19 first-half points. UCO shot just 25.9 percent from the field in the opening period and had 10 turnovers before intermission. The Bronchos picked up the pace in the second half, hitting 15-of-34 (44.1%) from the field, but couldn't overcome a 15-5 scoring deficit at the free throw line.
The Lady Aggies improved their shooting in the second half, as well, hitting nearly 48 percent from the field and finishing the game with a 44.4 shooting percentage.
Senior guard Electa Hare led the Lady Aggies with 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting. Christina Buben added 11 points, while freshman Chelsea Turner hit 5-of-5 from the floor to finish with 10 points. Central Oklahoma got a game-high 18 points from junior guard Jackee' Brown, but no other Broncho player scored in double-figures.
Cameron won for the fourth time this season while being outrebounded by their opponent. UCO held a 36-32 edge on the glass, but committed 18 turnovers to Cameron's 12.
