Lady Aggies sign Ohio juco transfer
May 7, 2006LAWTON, Okla. (May 7) - Cameron University women's basketball coach Kevin Hackerott has signed his first recruit of the spring. Owens Community College transfer Sarah Moore is the latest to commit to joining the Lady Aggie squad for the 2006-07 season.
A 6-2 forward/center, Moore averaged 14 points and nearly 10 rebounds per game last season at Owens Community College in Toledo, Ohio, helping the Express to a 17-14 record. She was named second team all-conference in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference as a sophomore this year while helping OCC to an appearance in the NJCAA Region XII championship tournament.
Prior to playing at OCC, Moore was a three-sport standout at Truman High School in Taylor, Mich. She was a two-time all-conference selection and a three-time winner of her team's Most Valuable Player Award in basketball, while also starting on Truman's volleyball and softball teams.
Moore is the daughter of Micheal and Terri Moore and plans to pursue a degree in the field of science at Cameron.
Under former head coach Dick Halterman, Cameron's Lady Aggies made their third trip to the Lone Star Conference postseason tournament and compiled an overall record of 15-13. Three Cameron players earned individual recognition in the conference, including seniors Joneatta Brown and Brittany Cooksey, who were both named to the All-LSC North Division first team. A 33-year coaching veteran, Halterman retired at the conclusion of the 2005-06 season and Hackerott was introduced as the team's next head coach on April 5.
