Aggie women can't weather Storm
February 17, 2010DURANT, Oklahoma (February 17) – A very strong second half pushed the Southeastern Oklahoma State Savage Storm (18-6, 8-3 LSC-N) past the Cameron Aggie women’s basketball team (7-17, 3-8 LSC-N) tonight in Durant. Despite tonight’s Lone Star Conference North Division loss, the Aggie women still have a shot at making the playoffs.
In order to clinch a postseason berth the Black and Gold must win out and hope that the Texas Woman’s Pioneers lose out. Additionally, the Aggies will need a little help from both East Central and Southeastern.
Cameron led for the first 2:38 of this evening’s game, but after that the Savage Storm pulled away.
“The toughest team won tonight. We were down by 12 at half, and Southeastern came out in the second half and played more physical and aggressive,” Head Coach Tom Webb said. “It was a frustrating night.”
Junior guard Josie Stewart once again led the team in scoring with 17 points on 6-15 shooting. Jessica Priest and her 10 points on 4-6 shooting was CU’s only other double-digit scorer.
Senior guard Tera Tremayne contributed yet another solid rebounding performance with a game-high 11 boards.
The Aggies host the Tigers of East Central University this Saturday (February 20) at 2:00pm in Aggie Gym. This weekend’s CU-ECU match-up takes place during Cameron University’s annual Homecoming and Hall of Fame celebration.
“Homecoming is huge for us. East Central is the team ahead of us so we’ll need to attack and go at them. We need to be ready to go Saturday,” Coach Webb said.
