Charles Washington was instrumental in helping turn the Cameron Football program into a National Championship team in 1987 and was named as a second team All-American that season. CU Hall of Fame Head Coach Brian Naber said Washington, "was unselfish and a team player... had exceptional physical skills-great speed-hands-and instincts and was a terrific special teams player and defensive back." Washington played six seasons in the National Football League with the Indianapolis Colts, Kansas City Chiefs, Atlanta Falcons, and was also a member of the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. He was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the seventh round of the 1989 NFL Draft.
