Joel Dering was the athletic trainer for 19 years at Cameron from 1987-07 providing health care and assistance to countless Aggie student-athletes. Dering was the department's trainer for CU's NAIA Football Championship in 1987 and countless programs that won LSC Championships during his tenure. He was also an educator in the physical education department and would later serve as its department chair. Dering also served in the US Naval Reserves and was called to active duty during the 2005-06 athletic season. Additionally, he was an active member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
