PORTALES, N.M. – Cameron faced a tough battle at the Lone Star Conference Championships at Eastern New Mexico and finished in fourth place on Saturday.

"We had a good race early on but we had issues with breathing from the changes in humidity and elevation," said head coach Casey Kreger. "We ran tough and tied our highest finish at conference … we can do much better and will continue to train and prepare for regionals."
Thomas Toth continued to lead the Aggies and placed third in the 8,000 meter race with a 25:47.00. He also was named an All-LSC Runner due to coming in the top-15.
"Thomas ran a gutsy race taking it from the gun and led over half way," added Kreger. "He (Toth) ran a good race and finished strong."
Kilian Schreiner was the second highest Aggie runner placing 17th with a total time of 26:34.70.
Janis Pastars finished in 26th with a 27:03.20; Steve Orwell ran a 28:02.00 and placed 35th, and
Cody Campbell rounded out the top five CU finishes with a 28:05.40 which was good for 36th place.
West Texas A&M won the LSC title with a time of 2:08:43.40 and had five runners in the top-10. Eastern New Mexico, the defending LSC Champion placed second, with Texas A&M Commerce coming in third. Behind Cameron was Tarleton State (5th), Angelo State (6th), and Texas A&M Kingsville.
