• Student-athletes may earn compensation for their name, image, and likeness ("NIL").  Such compensation must align with fair market value.

• Cameron University (CU), the CU Athletics Department, coaches, institutional staff members, or boosters may not compensate or arrange for compensation to a current or prospective intercollegiate athlete for her or his NIL.

• Compensation may not be provided to a current or prospective student-athlete in exchange for athletic performance or attendance at the Cameron University.

• Student-athletes are not permitted to miss class, other academic obligations, or team activities for NIL endeavors.

• Student-athletes are not permitted to use CU or athletics department-related marks and logos in NIL endeavors.

• Student-athletes are not permitted to enter into NIL agreements that conflict with team contracts and/or negatively impact or reflect adversely on CU or the CU Athletics Department. View a list of team contract conflicts and restricted products and services and/or categories.

• Student-athletes must disclose to the Athletics Compliance Department within 72 hours after entering into any NIL agreements or before the next athletic event in which he or she is eligible to participate, whichever occurs first. This is a requirement of Oklahoma state law.

• Student-athletes may secure professional representation, ONLY for NIL purposes and NOT for future professional athletic contract negotiations. Student-athletes cannot enter into any such written or oral agreements pertaining to NIL before CU compliance provides final approval.

• The duration of a contract for representation of a student-athlete for the use of his or her NIL may not extend beyond participation in their athletic program at CU.

• An athlete agent representing a student-athlete for purposes of securing compensation for his or her NIL must be licensed and registered with the Oklahoma Secretary of State per Oklahoma's Revised Uniform Athlete Agent Act ("RUAAA").

• Violations of Oklahoma's RUAAA by an athlete agent may result in criminal and/or civil prosecution.

• International student-athletes should not enter into any NIL agreements without guidance from the Athletics Compliance Department and CU's International Student Services to guard against any potential immigration issues.

• Compensation from NIL activity will be considered taxable income and, as such, may need to be factored into whether a student-athlete is required to file taxes.

• Pell Grant or need-based financial aid could be impacted because of compensation earned from NIL activity. Questions should be directed to the CU Athletics Compliance Department or Financial Aid Scholarship Coordinator.
