AMARILLO, Texas – The Aggies concluded the Lone Star Conference Women's Golf Championship with a sixth place finish on Tuesday. Cameron would improve its first round score by nine strokes to card a final 639 (324+315), but remained sixth of seven teams overall for the second year in a row.
Finishing in the top 20 and leading Cameron was junior
Katie Johnston who kept her 16th place spot on the individual leaderboard after finishing one stroke better in her final round (79+78) for 157. Johnston shot 15-over and made par 20 times.
Both Alexis Thompson and
Robyn Moore tied for 22nd place to finish 19-over. Thompson fell three spots on the individual leaderboard to tie for 22nd place after adding one stroke to her first day score (80+81)Â 161. Meanwhile, Moore moved up a spot from her first round cutting down three strokes to card a 161 (82+79).
Kennedy Wheeler and
Erin Hess rounded out the CU group as Wheeler remained in 26th place after shooting a 163 (83+80), and Hess ended the day in 31st following a total 164 (86+78).
Additionally, Thompson, Moore, and Hess each shot four birdies in the championship.
Tarleton State took its ninth Lone Star Conference women's golf championship after shooting 592 (298+294), and West Texas A&M senior Whitlee Woods took her first LSC individual title at 144 (71+73).Â
