Cameron Aggies Cross Country Teams Shine in Season Opener

Strong Performances Lead to Second-Place Finishes for Both Men's and Women's Teams

Lawton, Okla- The Cameron Aggies Men's and Women's Cross Country teams kicked off their 2024 season with impressive performances at the Lawton Soccer Club Complex on Friday, September 6th. Both teams secured second-place finishes in a competitive field of ten universities and 82 athletes.

Men's 8K Race Highlights

The men's team was led by a standout performance from Kgaogelo Moloisi, who dominated the 8K race. Moloisi crossed the finish line first among 70 athletes with an impressive time of 24:46.32, setting the pace for the entire meet. His teammate, Victor Ramos, also had a strong showing, finishing in the top 10 with a time of 25:14.56.

The Aggies men's team's collective effort resulted in a second-place finish with 57 total points. They were followed by North Central Texas (81 points), Northwestern Oklahoma State (82 points), and Amarillo College (102 points).

Women's 5K Race Highlights

The women's team also put on a strong display in their 5K race. Manon Cady led the Aggies with a top-5 finish, clocking in at 18:34.69. Close behind was Kaat de Staercke, who secured 6th place out of 82 runners with a time of 18:35.47.

Mirroring the men's team, the Aggies women also claimed second place overall with 37 points. They were trailed by Midwestern State (79 points), Southeastern Oklahoma State (85 points), and Amarillo College (153 points) to round out the top finishers.

The Aggies will look to build on this momentum in their next competition. Both the men's and women's teams are set to compete in the Mustang Derby on Thursday, September 12th, where they will face off against Midwestern State University.

As the season progresses, the Cameron Aggies Cross Country teams aim to continue improving their times and climbing the rankings in their conference.
