LAWTON, Okla. – After a first place showing on their home course, the Cameron University cross country squads are set to return to action Saturday morning, October 11, at the DBU Old Glory Invitational in Dallas, Texas.
The men will kick off the day with an 8K race at 8:15 a.m., followed by the women's 5K at 9:15 a.m.
The event will feature more than 400 athletes and a large number of LSC teams across both races. The meet marks the final tune-up before the Lone Star Conference Championship.
Two weeks ago, at the Cameron Invitational, the Aggie men impressed with an impressive team victory, finishing 10 points ahead of the runner-up. Alex Teffu and Victor Ramos led the charge, placing third and fourth overall with times of 26:25.21 and 26:25.23, respectively.
On the women's side, the Aggies battled to a share of first place, highlighted by a standout performance from Marie Sommer, who took the individual title in 18:52.71. Close behind was Akaya Lightbourne, who earned the silver medal with a time of 18:59.01.
Head Coach Zach Johnson said, "DBU is our first big meet of the season, as there will be close to 50 universities competing on both sides and more than 400 athletes in each race. We will get the opportunity to preview the conference course and see many of our conference competitors for the first time this season. Our big goal is to see improvement and get momentum going into the championship season."
