Don Vieth

Don Vieth

Don Vieth was named Sports Information Director at Cameron University in June of 2012 after working at the Lone Star Conference office.

Vieth is in charge of the media-relations and marketing of Cameron University's 11 varsity programs.  In his first year at Cameron, he served as a play-by-play broadcaster in an assortment of away basketball contests, and formed a partnership with SIDEARM Sports in the summer of 2013.   Vieth also is the Advisor for athletic department's SAAC organization. 

While at the LSC office Vieth was instrumental in the broadcast initiative with the newly formed partnership with Fox Sports Southwest.  During the winter of 2012, Vieth was the on-air talent for several LSC men's and women's basketball games on FoxSportsSouthwest.com and then produced the LSC baseball and softball championships through the same outlet.

Prior to his time with the LSC, Vieth worked in NCAA Division I at High Point University as their multi-media coordinator producing games on the Big South Network.

Vieth was also Director of Sports Broadcasting and New Media at Winona State University in Winona, Minn.  In that position, Vieth was instrumental in creating the Warrior Sports Network (WSN), which featured several coach's shows as well as live video broadcasts.   It was the first such network in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). Vieth also led a redesign of winonastatewarriors.com through SIDEARM Sports in late 2010.

An alum of Winona State, Vieth began broadcasting Warrior sports on the radio as an undergraduate student. He worked with several sports and broadcasted championship events including Winona State's NCAA Div. II championship run in 2008.  In the spring of 2011, Vieth covered the Winona State baseball team as the Warriors advanced to the NCAA Div. II title game in Cary, N.C.

Vieth worked for the Southern Illinois Miners, an independent baseball team in the Frontier League, in its media and production department in 2009.

Vieth earned bachelor's degrees Mass Communications-Broadcasting and History and earned his master's degree in Sports Management, both from Winona State. Originally from Mauston, Wisc., Vieth now resides in Lawton he is an active member of CoSIDA, NACDA, and MOAA.
