Dennis Furr was named head softball coach on July 13, 2016 and has 13 years of head coaching experience at the prep-level, with six appearances in the OSSAA Championship, and four state titles.
Furr has led teams to ten state tournament appearances while compiling an overall coaching record of 388-115, and was named as an OSSAA Coach of the Year four times. In 2015, Furr was honored with the Michelle Smith Award for the State's Outstanding Softball Coach at the Warren Spahn Gala in Oklahoma City.   Furr has had 13 All-State players, with a Michelle Smith Award winner in 2015, and a Ferguson Jenkins Award Winner in 2009.
Furr was the President's Assistant of the Oklahoma Fast-Pitch Softball Coaches Association (OHSFSCA) where he served a two-year term from 2012-14 before completing his most recent term as the Vice President this summer.  On June 15, 2016, he was elected as the association's president.
Furr comes from Chickasha High School where he served as the program's head coach since 2011. Under Furr's guidance, the Lady Chicks won the OSSAA 5A State Title in 2014, and repeated in 2015 by taking the 4A crown.  In five seasons, Furr led Chickasha to a 152-41 overall record, with back-to-back 35-5 years in the last two seasons.
Prior to his time in Chickasha, Furr was the head softball coach at Lawton-MacArthur High School from 2005-2011. In six season with the Lady Highlanders, Furr went 189-48 overall with back-to-back state 5A titles in 2008 and 2009. Â
Furr was also the head softball coach for Sulphur High School from 2003-05. During the 2004 season, he guided Sulphur to their first district championship and top-10 ranking in school history.
Furr is a graduate of Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 1999.
