LAWTON, Okla. -- Aggie junior Sabelle Diata continued her impressive season with yet another double-double as the Cameron Aggies women’s team (3-5) came back from an eight point halftime deficit to defeat previously unbeaten Bacone on Wednesday, 58-55, in Aggie Gym.
Diata, who put up 23 points and snagged 13 rebounds, was a terror on the inside against the Warriors of Bacone. She added two blocks and a steal.
In a game that featured a combined 51 shots from behind-the-arc, junior Nicole Pendarvis set the tone for the night by draining a pull up three off the feed by freshman Ali Brown just twenty seconds into the game.
The Aggies were pressured early by the heavy press defense used by Bacone Head Coach Robbie Shay. Nonetheless, the home squad was able to win the turnover battle 18 to 24.
As has become the norm for Coach
Tom Webb’s team, a second-half rally was in store that got the crowd in Aggie Gym into an uproar in support of their team.
A pair of free throws from junior Jessica Priest got the Aggies within a bucket and an opportunity Aggie squad took advantage of the offensive glass. A Pendarvis rebound led to a Jordan Kauk three to give Cameron the lead. The sophomore also pulled down two rebounds.
The Aggies return to the court December 13 when they will play host to rival Midwestern State. Tip off is set for 6 p.m. in Aggie Gym.
