Lawson and Risoli Help Pace Cameron Offense

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Junior Adrienne Lawson had a match-high 12 kills and freshman Jenna Risoli tallied a team-best 17 assists, but it wasn’t enough for the Cameron volleyball team, as Southwest Baptist took the match in straight sets (25-19, 25-16, 25-22) Friday evening.

The Aggies (1-4) and Bearcats (3-2) went back and forth in the first set until an 11-4 run midway through by SBU. Cameron got the game back within four after the Aggies hammered out three straight points. However, SBU ended the set by going on a 5-3 run.

Much like the previous stanza, Cameron and SBU were knotted early, but another big run by the Bearcats separated the two teams. Lawson led the Aggies with four kills in the set, while Risoli added eight assists.

Cameron looked as though it was going to bounce back in the third set after taking a two point lead late. However, another late scoring drought for the Aggies allowed SBU to grab the win.

The next action for Cameron will be Saturday morning at 9:30 when they go head-to-head with St. Mary’s. Following the action with the Rattlers, Cameron will close the tournament against UT-Permian Basin at 2:30 p.m.
