Volleyball Wins Third Straigt

ADA, Okla. – Behind a pair of double-doubles by junior Adrienne Lawson and freshman Megan Olivarez, the Cameron volleyball team won its third straight match and Lone Star Conference opener Thursday night at East Central (22-25, 26-24, 25-20, 25-23).

Lawson had her second double-double of season after smacking down a game-high 20 kills and adding 10 digs. Olivarez, meanwhile, picked up her first double-double of the season with 11 kills and 13 digs.

For the team during set number one, the Aggies (4-5, 1-0) fell down early, but fought their way back to bring it back within one. However, ECU (0-11, 0-1) ended the match by scoring the final two points to grab the win.

Cameron again was down early in the second set (6-1), but a 6-2, which was aided by Lawson’s three kills helped notch the win. In the set, Lawson had six of the teams 15 kills, while senior Valerie Ogle tacked on eight assists.

The Aggies got out to a quick start in the third set by jumping to a 15-9 lead and never allowed the Tigers to get into the match, Cameron hit. 250 in the set, while the defense held ECU to just a .182 attack percentage.

In the final set, the Aggies found themselves down again early, but a 9-3 run propelled Cameron to the victory. During the run, Cameron got kills from freshman Jenna Keeler and Lawson, while the defense forced ECU into four attack errors.

Cameron’s next action is Saturday at 5 p.m. when it travels to Southeastern Oklahoma. The Savage Storm will have live stats and video available on http://www.gosoutheastern.com/webcast.asp.
