DURANT, Okla. — Double-doubles from junior Adrienne Lawson and freshman Jenna Risoli helped lift the Cameron volleyball to a sweep of Lone Star Conference rival Southeastern Oklahoma (25-21, 25-19, 27-25) Saturday evening.
During the first set, SESU (2-8, 0-2) tied the match at 20, but Cameron (5-5, 2-0) put an end to the Savage Storm come back with a match ending 5-1 run. Lawson had a set-high five kills and on the defensive side tacked on 10 digs to help the Aggies secure the win.
After falling down 15-14, the Aggies went on another big run (11-4) to grab the second set victory. Lawson again led Cameron in kills with five during the set, while she also added three more digs to gain her third double-double of the year.
Cameron had a 19-15 lead, but a 10-5 run by SESU nearly forced a fourth set. The Aggies, meanwhile, had other ideas as a match ending 3-0 run gave them the sweep.
For the match, Lawson had a game-best 14 kills and 18 digs, while Risoli added 19 assists and 11 digs. Freshman Megan Olivarez also had a double-digit afternoon in kills, as she put down 11.
The next action for Cameron will be Thursday when Texas A&M-Kingsville comes to the Aggie Gym. The contest against the Javelinas will be the first of three straight home games for Cameron.Â
