ODESSA, Texas – After finishing 2010 on a five-game winning streak, the Cameron Aggies women’s basketball team (6-6) was unable to pick up where they left off, falling to the University of Texas at Permian Basin (11-3), 86-73, on Sunday.
Junior Sabelle Diata led the Aggies with 18 points and seven rebounds. She also added two more blocks as well as an assist and steal. Senior Josie Stewart contributed 13 points and eight rebounds while junior Nicole Pendarvis posted double-digit assist numbers with 10.
The Aggies led for all but the final tick of the first half, up by as many as 15, before a last second buzzer beater by Teisha King sent UTPB into the break up 46-43.
Tammy Acosta led all scorers with 25 including a 6-of-8 night from behind the arc. Acosta was also 9-for-17 from the field.
Cameron returns to the court Thursday, Jan. 6 when they host Lone Star Conference rival Angelo State as LSC crossover games wind down. Tip off is set for 6 p.m.
