Aggies Face Tough Competition At Regional Meet

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (Nov. 5, 2011) — Cameron’s cross country team finished 16th in the NCAA D-II South Central Regional Meet Saturday, coming in with a total time of 2:52:21.90. The event was hosted by Midwestern State and run in Wichita Falls, Texas.

“(It was a) Good course, little windy,” said Head Coach Matt Aguero.

Freshman Hillary Kirwa, an all-conference runner, pushed through the pain of an injured leg to lead the Aggies with a time of 31:37.70.

“Hillary (Kirwa) is doing ok; he gutted it out,” Aguero said. “It was a pretty awesome performance by him. He was out there competing on an injured leg."

Moses Kipkosgei followed Kirwa, finishing in 69th place with a time of 33:49.20. Alfonso Lozoya was on his heels in 72nd with a time of 33:53.60. The rest of the team finished as follows: Brian Mulwo, 35:24.50; Marcus Trevino, 35:36.90; Krzysztof Szczepinski, 36:08.20; and Tyler Jacobs, 36:15.30.

“Everybody ran pretty good,” the coach said.”It wasn’t a bad day.”
