LAWTON, Okla. - The Cameron University cross country took second place on Saturday when they hosted the Aggie Showdown. Of the teams that competed, CU was outdone only by East Central University (ECU). The University of Arkansas at Ft. Smith rounded out the top three.
Aggie freshman Hillary Kirwa came in second place in the 8k race with a time of 25:04.72, finishing just three seconds behind ECU's Ezekiel Kissorio.
CU's Moses Kipkosgei had an outstanding finish as well, coming in seventh and recording a time of 26:00.58. The third, fourth, and fifth places were picked up by ECU, while Steven Sawyer came in sixth running unattached.
Other impressive finishes for the Aggie squad included Alfonso Lozoya (14th, 26:48.46), Tyler Jacobs (16th, 27:01.59), Brian Mulwo (22nd, 27:21.88) and Marcus Trevino (28th, 27:58.19).
Saturday's race marked the second consecutive race in which the Black and Gold placed at the top. Last week, the team took fourth in the MSU Mustang Stampede.
Next on the schedule for the Aggie runners is the OSU Cowboy Stampede. The race is set to begin at 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 1 in Stillwater.
The Aggie Showdown also featured a collegiate women's race, a men's and women's open race, a high school boy's and girl's race, a junior high boy's and girl's race and an elementary student race. Links for full results of all the races can be found below.
