Cameron Finishes Dornick Hills Classic In Fifth Place

Ardmore, Okla. (Sept. 20, 2011) — After a long first day, Cameron’s Men’s Golf Team was able to move up two spots to fifth after the final round of the Dornick Hills Classic. Cameron shot a 291 on the day, good for a total of 897 (+57). The 291 much better than their first two rounds of 300 and 306, respectively.

“We played much better today,” said Head Coach Jerry Hrnciar. “It was the second low round on the day. We had opportunities, unfortunately we had a couple in good shape not bring it home.

Playing as a separate team, the Cameron Junior Varsity Team shot a 918 (+78) to finish in a tie with East Central for 10th place.

“We saw a lot of things, including that some of our JV played better than varsity,” the coach said. “Until I figure out who is varsity, we won’t know how good we are. The competition will make us better.”

Kregg Wood and Trey Lawson led the way for the Aggies. Wood finished with a 221 (+11), tied for ninth place. Lawson finished in a tie for 11th place with a 222 (+12).  Austin Weaver and Michael Kelly led the JV team, as each shot a 223 (+13) and tied for 14th place.

“Kregg (Wood) played really steady and Trey (Lawson) was really good,” Hrncair said. “They played solid golf.”

Other varsity scores include: Brady Porter (+16), Garrett Smith (+21) and Jamie Gray (+30).
Junior Varsity: Corey Bounds (+24), Felipe Anzarut (+29) and K.C. Colvin (+34).

Playing as individual participants, Bradley Farrell finshed +28 and Jacob Caldwell, +44.

The Men’s Golf Team will play next in the Texhoma Championship at the Chickasaw Pointe Golf Club.
