Ocasio breaks 1,000 digs in a loss to West Texas

LAWTON, Okla. --On a night where Julisa Ocasio gets 1,000 digs for her career at Cameron, The Aggie volleyball team loses to #11 West Texas A&M three sets to one.

Only needing nine digs to get to the milestone, Ocasio dug out 13 balls on the night and reached nine towards the end of set two. She now has 409 digs on the season, averaging about six digs per set.

The Aggies stayed with the Lady Buffs early in each set, but towards the end of each set the fire power of WT allowed them to run away with the lead. In the first set CU, was able to keep the lead under double digits, as West Texas won the set 25-18. Unfortunately for the Aggies the swinging of the Lady Buff attackers warmed up and went on a 3-7 run to start the second set. West Texas had one six point rally and two 4 point rallies to pull them away for a 25-11 win in the second set. In the third set, Cameron kept the deficit at two up until the score was 13-15, but a 10-3 run by the Lady Buffs won the set 25-16 and the match.

Offensively, the Cameron attack was slowed by 14 total blocks by the Lady Buffs, Kathryn Evans had the team high 8 kills tonight and Rebecca Green (7) and Shannon Dulaney (6) were the only other Aggies with more than five kills. Jenna Risoli had a quiet night setting the ball with a total of 23 assists, and Erin Hardy was the only other Aggie with double digit digs with 10.

Cameron will play again tomorrow afternoon as the Eastern New Mexico Zias roll into Lawton at 2 pm for another Lone Star Conference match.
