Box Score

KINGSVILLE, Texas –  A slow start for Cameron tonight in the Holiday Inn Emerald Beach Thanksgiving Classic proved to be their undoing falling to McMurry 76-56 in Kingsville.

Box Score

McMurry (4-0) shot lights out in the opening minutes going on a 15-0 run taking advantage of cold Aggie shooting and turnovers.  Cameron (2-1) went 4:30 minutes in the game without scoring with any points until Rudy Harrell put up a layup to give the Aggies their first points.

The War Hawk lead continued to grow 22 points by the 11 minute mark in the first half as the Aggies continued to struggle hit shots and turning the ball over.

By the end of the first half the turnover battle leveled off between both teams but the shooting didn’t improve.   Cameron went 9-27 (33.3%) from the field and free throws were also an issue in the first 20 minutes going 3-8 from the charity stripe.

After the first half CU managed to close the McMurry lead down to 16 points after hitting a pair of 3s late but they went into the locker room trailing 40-24.

In the second half Cameron got within 11 points after going a quick 5-0 run but it was closest the Aggies would get.

Fouls were an issue throughout the game with the Ags having three players with four or more fouls and putting the War Hawks at the line 26 times, converting 21 points.

Taking advantage of opportunities was a major factor tonight with the War Hawks getting 31 points off of turnovers and second chance points.  Cameron on the other hand converted nine points.

The Aggies struggled in the rebounding battle trailing the War Hawks in that category 45-29.

Leading the Aggies was Jonathan Patino who had 11 points.  In his Aggie debut, Warren Chapman scored nine points, all of which were from the arc.

As a team the Aggies shot 19-59 from the field (32.2%), 9-27 from the three point arc (33.3), and shot  9-18 (50.0%) from the free throw line.
