Box Score SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Aggies left the door cracked open midway through the second half and Incarnate Word took advantage of 14 CU turnovers en route to a 74-69 win in San Antonio.
Early in the game Craig Foster put the Aggies on his shoulders hitting 16 points in the first half.Â
Both teams traded points but it was Aggies who would leave to the locker rooms with a 37-34 lead.
Statically CU made their shots count hitting 13-24 (54%) with five three pointers. On the other side of the court, UIW also hit five shots from downtown to help keep up with the Aggie shooting.Â
Cameron held onto the lead for the first eight minutes in the second half until UIW went on a 7-0 run to take 56-51 lead with 11:04 remaining.
The momentum continued to stay with UIW until Cameron got a layup from Tim Johnson and hit their first three pointer of the half from Kimric Dixon to pull in within one point with 3:48 left.
With 75 seconds remaining and a five point Cardinal lead Andrew Thomas (Big Country) got a steal and Johnson would make a layup with the and-one to get the Aggies within two.
UIW would then take a timeout and get a critical three pointer with 45 seconds left forcing Cameron to take a timeout.  Big Country would come up big pulling down a rebound and scoring with just 15 seconds left to making it a one possession game. Â
Cameron would then foul but UIW would hit both their free throws and pull off the win, 74-69
Leading the way was Foster with 16 points but those were all made in the first half. Johnson had an Aggie career high 15 points followed by Aaron Thompson and Big Country with eight.Â
As a team the Aggies shot better going 27-48 (56%) compared to UIW’s 27-59 (46%) but the difference was the turnover battle. Cameron committed 14 turnovers and Incarnate Word generated 18 points off of CU miscues.Â
With the loss Cameron falls to .500 (3-3) overall and 0-2 in conference play.
The Aggies will have the next week off before traveling on Dec. 8 to play West Texas A&M at 6 p.m. in Canyon, Texas.
