Aggies sweep day two in Drury

Cameron improves to 2-2 after the first weekend of the 2012 season

Game Stats (Kentucky Wesleyan) | Game Stats (Newman)

LAWTON, Okla. -- A short turnaround this morning did not hurt the Aggies as they were able to sweep Kentucky Wesleyan 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-19) and defeat Newman University 3-1 (28-26, 25-18, 24-26, 25-21) at the Drury University Tournament in Springfield, Mo.

"Winning these two matches today was important and overall throughout the weekend just like last season we found ways to be competitive against some really good teams," said head coach Doug Tabbert. "In the early match against Kentucky Wesleyan, we were just coming off of two five set matches yesterday and started off flat. It was encouraging to see us improve and push through that over the course of the match.

"We still have to find ways to be constant and be better organized on the floor. With the number of new faces we have there were miscommunication errors and that is something else we need to work on."

For the Aggies in match one against Kentucky Wesleyan, Kathryn Evans came up with 12 kills and had an attack percentage of .500, Jenna Risoli put together 34 assists along with five digs and five kills.

As team Cameron improved throughout the match committed only two errors in the third set with an attack percentage of .424 and dominated sets one and three holding onto leads throughout the set.  The furthest behind Cameron got during the match was two points mid-way in set two.

The top performer in the afternoon vs. Newman was Shannon Dulaney who had her second double-double during the weekend with 26 kills and 18 digs. This was highest mark for kills since Kelle Carver had 30 kills against UT-Permain Basin on 10/1/11.

Risoli recorded her 12th career double-double after providing Cameron solid support with 16 digs and 50 assitsts.  She also tied her fourth highest career total in a match for assists.

"Shannon came up for us big this weekend and we asked a lot from her and that was good to see," Tabbert said. "We also made Jenna work hard this weekend. She kept going up and made some good things happen in some tough situations."

Cameron will return to action this upcoming Friday and Saturday to play in the CSU-Pueblo Tournament in Pueblo, Colo.
