LAWTON, Okla.--The Cameron University volleyball team lost to the Incarnate Word Cardinals in three sets today at the Aggie Gym (25-17, 28-26, 25-22).Â
The Aggies fell behind in the first set, but fought hard in the second and third set but it was not enough to stop the Cardinal attack.

The second set started off with a 1-5 UIW run but the Aggies rallied to tie the set and then took a lead 7-5. Points were traded evenly up until 22-22, UIW then took the next two points push it to set point. Cameron fought to tie the set again at 25-25 and then took the lead 26-25.  Incarnate Word then rallied with three points in a row to win the set 26-28.
After the break, the Aggies found themselves down quickly in the third set 3-7, but kept fighting and gained a 19-16 lead to send UIW into a timeout. After trading points to make the score 21-18, the Cardinals had a five straight points to take the lead, 21-23. The Aggies gained another point in the set but could not hold off the opposition as they lost set three 25-22.
The Aggies offense struggled, but Kathryn Evans, Annelise Carpenter, and Shannon Dulaney had nine kills each. Jenna Risoli dished out 28 assists. Defensively, Julisa Ocasio had 19 digs, and Mariah Westlake had 10 digs.
With this loss the Aggies fall to 5-7 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
Up next for CU is their only trip Portales, New Mexico on Sept. 25 at 8:00 p.m. to face Eastern New Mexico.
