LAWTON, OK – Cameron Volleyball Coach Melissa Avila has resigned to accept the same role at the University of Texas Permian Basin.
 
"We are sad to see Coach Avila leave Cameron," said Director of Athletics Lou Izzi.  "She is certainly leaving our program in a much better place than when she arrived on campus over a year ago.  We are grateful for the impact that she has had on our student-athletes, department and community."
 
In her one season in Lawton, Avila led the Aggies to a 7-23 record and a five win improvement. 
 
The Aggies are slated to return seven key players and will open their season at home on September 1^st against Southern Nazarene.  The Aggies will host a five-team tournament in Aggie Gym on September 4-5 and will take part in the Lone Star Conference Challenge at Dallas Baptist on September 10-11.
