Box Score ABILENE, Texas – In their final Lone Star Conference visit to Abilene Christian the Cameron University women’s basketball team fell 90-43 at Moody Coliseum on Saturday night.
Chelsea Stamp led Cameron (3-9, 2-4 LSC) with 13 points. Brittany Harris added nine points with four assists.
Abilene moved to moved to 8-3 overall and was led by Kynzie Newman with 22 points and Savannah Smith added 18 points for the Wildcats.
The Ags jumped out in front early, leading ACU 10-7 at the 16:04 mark after a Lacy Reinke jumper. ACU would then nail down a three-pointer from Newman matching Cameron’s score at 10-10 with 14:32 left in the first half.
Momentum carried with the Wildcats they would go on a 17-3 run in the following eight minutes leading CU 27-13, with 6:16 remaining in the opening frame.Â
Stamp would then drill the Aggies lone three-pointer in the half at the 5:59 marking and making it a 27-16 game but the Wildcats would hold on the first half lead, 37-22.
In the second half, the Wildcats continued their shooting on the Aggies opening with an 11-1 run (48-23 ACU) through the first five minutes of the half. However, the Aggies were also in foul trouble with Reinke and Hannah Pollart forced to watch from the CU bench after both reaching four personal fouls before the first media timeout.
The Aggies would get five points all coming from the charity stripe before the Wildcats would go another 15-3 run, leading 63-31 over CU.
The trouble continued for CU in the remaining minutes of the game as ACU would continue hitting shots ending the game on a 6-0 run, defeating the Aggies 90-43.Â
Cameron had trouble throughout the night getting shots to drop hitting 22.9 percent (11-48) from the field and hit three shot from downtown (3-23). Abilene on the other hand shot a hot hand with 46.9 percent shooting (30-64) and improved in the second half going 53.3 percent (16-30).
The Wildcats led the rebounding battle with 50 boards compared to CU’s 29.Â
