Will Cook and
Craig Foster combined for 44 points but Cameron could not hold off #4 ranked Drury in overtime falling 70-66 on Saturday evening.
Cameron (3-4) held onto a slim lead midway into the second half but Drury (5-0), the defending NCAA Division II Champions hung around long enough to overtake the Aggies in the end.
The Aggies played from behind early but took control of the Panthers holding into a five point lead at the half. Both Cook and Foster accounted for the majority of CU's offense scoring 12 points apiece. Beyond Cook and Foster neither team shot the ball all that well early with Cameron hitting 37.5% on the floor and Drury going 34.8%.
Drury regrouped out of the locker room and took a seven point lead with four minutes remaining in regulation before the Aggies mounted an 8-1 run to tie the ballgame. Both teams traded buckets down the stretch and the Aggies had an opportunity to win at the buzzer but Foster would miss a three and the game would be sent to overtime.
Unfortunately for Cameron, the Panthers struck first in overtime and carried the momentum at home to win their 28 game in a row.
Will Cook would lead the Aggies with his second double-double of the season with 26 points and 12 rebounds.
Craig Foster scored 18, and
Tank Mayberry pulled down nine boards with six points.
The Aggies led in rebounding 41 to 38 but lost the turnover battle 14 to Drury's eight. Both teams shot the ball similarly with DU having the edge 39.3% to CU's 38.6%.
Cameron will return to action quickly playing on Dec. 3-4 for exhibitions at Oral Roberts and Missouri State.
