CU falls at Midwestern State, 3-1

Box Score
WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Cameron's struggles in conference play continued at Midwestern State on Saturday falling 25-12, 27-25, 25-9, 25-22 to the Mustangs.

The Aggies were inconsistent throughout the match hitting a sub .000 percent in sets one and three; while playing extremely competitively in the other two sets.

"We were very inconsistent and we made some runs to keep us in the match, but we couldn't get anything going offensively," said head coach Doug Tabbert.

"Kelle (Carver) struggled today, fair or not if she struggles, we struggle. Grace (Newkirk) had a good match but when we only have one person in double-digit kills you're going to struggle."

In set two, Cameron recorded a match high 16 kills and rallied back from a 25-24 set point with three straight points thanks to a pair of Grace Newkirk kills.

Cameron had to pull themselves out on a six point hole to the Mustangs early and got within one by the 19-18 mark. Despite CU's attempts, MSU would slam the door shut knocking off three kills to take the match.

Newkirk led the CU offense with 12 kills and a .250 hitting percentage, Kayla Hebert strung together another double-double with 26 assists and 13 digs; while Erin Hardy chipped in a match high 20 digs. As a group, CU hit .099 with only a pair of blocks.

Jenna Risoli provided 12 digs for CU; she needs 15 more in the remaining two matches to join the 1,000 dig club.

The Mustangs had three players with ten kills, while hitting at a .252 clip on the floor. MSU would also knock down 10 blocks in the match.

Cameron falls to 7-21 overall and 0-15 in the Lone Star Conference, Midwestern State moves to 15-11 and 6-9 in the LSC.

Cameron will return to action on Tuesday hosting Southwestern Oklahoma at 7 pm.
