WINFIELD, Kan. – The Cameron University Cross Country team is in the middle of their spring season competing at the Southwestern Invitational in Winfield.
Several Aggies had strong showings competing in distance events.
In the 5000 meter event, Grant Wignall paced the Ags with a 15:37, finishing seventh for a personal best. Cody Campbell placed behind Wignall with a time of 15:39, good for eight place. Steve Orwell, who missed the fall season ran a time of 16:20, placing 22nd, and Cole Atchison had a personal best time of 16:36, finishing in 29th.
At the 1500 meter race, Janis Pastars tied a personal best time at 4:02, placing in third. Tyler Jacobs finished in 31st with a time of 4:19. Both Pastar and Jacobs ran in the 800 meter race as well, with Pastars finishing in 13th with a team of 1:59, and Jacobs placing 34th with a team of 2:04.
Running unattached for Cameron was Thomas Toth and Antonio Moreno. Toth ran the 1000 meter and finished third with a time of 31:56. Moreno ran in the 1500 meter, finishing in 20th place with a time of 4:13, he also raced in the 800 meter, finishing in 62nd.
The Aggie runners will return to action on March 23 at the Bobby Lane Invitational at the University of Texas – Arlington.
