WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The Cameron men’s golf team held onto a late lead in the MSU Invitational but late double-bogeys and Midwestern State birdies proved to be the difference finishing in second with a three round total of 887, four strokes back of MSU who won the invite.
Both Austin Weaver and Trey Lawson finished third for with a 218, two stokes back of MSU’s Santiago Gomez who finished with a par for the tournament. Weaver carded a third round total of 69, which was tied for the lowest score of the day.
Corey Bounds and Kregg Wood tied for 16th with a 229. Wood shot a third round score of 77, while Bounds carded a 76.Â
Freshman Cullen Stahl rebounded in the tournament after shooting a first round score of 84, he would later shoot a 75 and 74, finishing in 33rd with a 233.
Michael Kelly as an individual competing for Cameron placed in a tie for 48th with a three round score of 237 (81-80-76).
The Cameron men’s golf team will compete in the Arizona sun on March 31 for the South Central Desert Shootout in Goodyear, Ariz.Â
