Cameron netters take down Alabama-Huntsville

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Cameron relied on a triple threat at the net to get a sweep over Alabama-Huntsville in the first of two games at the Henderson State Classic.  Kelle Carver, Grace Newkirk and Kelsie Coplen combined to give CU (2-1) 36 kills over the Lady Chargers (0-3).

The Aggies would have no problem in the first set winning 25-10, with Carver, Newkirk, and Coplen all having four kills each.  However, in set two Cameron got off to a slow start letting the Lady Chargers build up a 6-0 lead, forcing Head Coach Doug Tabbert to burn off a timeout. 

CU would mount a comeback to tie the set at 16 and rolled onto taking set two 25-21.

Cameron in the third set got into a seesaw battle, but they would close the books on the Lady Chargers 25-22 for their second win of the season.

Carver led the Aggies with 15 kills and two blocks.  Coplen added 12 kills and only have two errors, resulting in a .526 attack percentage, and Newkirk chipped in nine kills, while making only one error.  Kayla Hebert dished out 40 assists, and Erin Hardy added 13 digs.

The Lady Chargers were led by Haley Snyder and Olivia Bauman who both had nine kills each.  Stacey Sargent went onto give UAH 16 digs.

Cameron will play one final match in Arkansas against Southwest Baptist before traveling back to Lawton.
