WEATHERFORD – Cameron survived a slow start but snapped a five game losing streak on the road by besting Southwestern Oklahoma in four sets. The Aggies move to 11-13 overall while the Bulldogs are 8-14 in non-conference play.
The Aggies never could get their offense going against the Bulldogs and trailed from start to finish falling in the opening frame 25-17.  Southwestern Oklahoma used a 7-1 run to distance themselves from the Aggies who hit .106 during the set, and SWOSU used 16 kills to lift them to the early edge.
Cameron turned the tables on the Bulldogs and dominated sets two and three from start to finish winning 25-18 and 25-8 to get an edge of SWOSU. The Aggies knocked down 32 kills and hit .288 while Southwestern Oklahoma managed only 16 and hit a mere .052 in-between sets two and three.Â
Kat Evans paced CU in set two with six kills, while
Kendra Adams provided the Ags eight in the third set.
The eight points allowed by CU was a six year low in a 25 format set that was last done on Aug. 29, 2008 against Felician College.
Despite dominating sets two and three the Aggies to had to put up a fight in set four. Both teams were locked up at 11 until the Aggies used a 4-1 run to pull ahead of the Bulldogs and never looked back to win the set 25-18.
Adams paced CU with 16 kills, Evans added 14, and
Rebecca Green chipped in 10. Â
Ingrid Boatman and
Kayla Hebert both had double-double matches with Boatman dishing up a match high 41 assists and added 16 digs, Hebert had 12 digs and 11 assists.Â
Lindsey McCauley had a career night with a match high 24 digs.
Southwestern Oklahoma was led by Joey Collins who had 14 kills.
The Aggies netted 59 kills and a .219 hitting percentage, SWOSU had 38 kills and a .104 hitting percentage.
Cameron will return home on Friday to face Midwestern State at 7 p.m. in a Lone Star Conference contest.Â
