ADA Â -- East Central pulled away in the second half and handed the Aggies a 90-81 loss in non-conference play at the Kerr Activities Center on Tuesday night. The Aggies are now 0-4 to start the season after dropping each game on the road, East Central moved to 4-0 overall .
In the first half the Aggies led for over 10 minutes but it would be the Tigers heading the locker room with a slim 50-48 lead. Both teams showed some offensive muscle with CU shooting 51.6 percent and East Central slightly back at 51.4 percent. The difference proved to be second chance points with ECU picking up 11, and the Aggies getting three, along with East Central's Dilan Webster getting 23 points.    Cameron countered with 15 points from
Jade Herl and 12 from
Jazzmine Robinson.
East Central distanced themselves in the final 20 minutes from the Aggies and took a 10 point, 76-66, advantage at the midway mark before CU got five unanswered points thanks to a three-pointer from Robinson and a bucket off of
Charron Montgomery steal. However, this would be the closest the Aggies would get the rest of the way falling 90-81.
Herl led the Aggies with a career high 24 point effort, she would knock down six three pointers, Robinson went 9-21 on the floor and made 23, and
DJ Vallier came away with a double-double getting 11 points and 11 rebounds; Robinson also had a double-double by adding 10 boards.
Cameron took a 38-34 edge in the rebounding battle but cooler second half shooting was the difference as the end of the night. The Aggies shot 38.7 percent in the second half, where as ECU went 51.7 percent.Â
ECU's Webster led all scorers with 31 points, with Ashleigh Kelman-Poto adding 20, and Taylor Fischer chipping in 15.
Despite a +7 turnover margin by the Aggies, Cameron led the turnover battle 17-15, and also had the edge in points in the paint (28-24). Â The Aggies shot 45.2 percent on the floor, and ECU went 51.5 percent on their side of the court.
Cameron will travel to Canyon to play Truman State and Harding on Friday and Saturday in West Texas A&M's Thanksgiving Classic.
