Box Score DENTON, Texas – A 40 point second half offensive outburst by Texas Woman's would send Cameron back home with a 62-58 loss on Thursday night in Denton.
Cameron (9-11, 1-9 LSC) spoiled a 13 point halftime lead to the Pioneers who shot 50% in the second half and handed the Ags their sixth loss in a row.
Ali Brown paced the Aggies with 16 points and eight rebounds; the senior fell one point of matching a career high. Â
Christina Caddy had her 10
th double-digit game of the season with 11 points and added eight rebounds.
Lacy Reinke chipped in 10 points with four boards.
The Aggies shot 39.3% (22-56) from the floor and edged the Pioneers who went 38.1% (24-63) on their end of the court.
Cameron had the momentum early and broke a tie at 11 each and rolled out on a 16-2 run on the Pioneers. The Aggies would stay out in front of TWU and carried a 35-22 into the looker room.
The game took a shift in the second half and Texas Woman's controlled the first ten minutes and reeled Cameron back into their sights to tie the game at 44 with nine minutes to go. Both teams traded buckets and TWU broke a 58-58 tie in the final minute of the game with a pair of free-throws.Â
Cameron had a few opportunities to tie the game in the closing seconds but a pair of missed layups and a turnover in their final possession would end the Ags night.
The Aggie women will have a short break and on Saturday, Feb. 8 they will face Tarleton State at 2 pm.
