Box Score LAWTON, Okla. -Â The Cameron University volleyball team came out with high energy in front over 500 fans but they would fall in straight sets (25-23, 25-17, 25-22) to #25 Angelo State on Friday night.

Despite the score, both teams were locked up different eight times, with four lead changes.Â

"The team appreciated the crowd support tonight it was good to have them behind us," said head coach
Qi Wang. "Our effort was there, but Angelo State is a good program and we couldn't sustain a long enough run to stop them."

The Aggies held onto a lead for the majority of the first set and took a 19-17 advantage before ASU went on a 4-0 run to control the set.

ASU took the second set but CU regained their composer late in the third after recovering from a 21-16 ASU lead. The Aggies would get a kill from
Paige Holt and took advantage of three Rambelle errors to pull within a point.

After trading points, CU evened the game with back-to-back points to even set up at 22 before ASU came up with three straight points to win the match.

Kat Evans led the CU offense with 10 kills and
Jordan Escobar provided seven with match high six block assists. Â

Angelo's Abbie Lynn was their leading offensive weapon 10 kills with Mallory Blauser adding nine.

Cameron edged ASU in blocks with eight to their seven, but the difference was hitting; Angelo State left with an attack percentage at .222 while Cameron had a .079 overall.

With the loss for Cameron (3-2, 0-1 LSC) it sends them to their 19 straight league loss, while Angelo State moves to 5-1 and 2-0 in league play.

The Aggies will return to action on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. to face Tarleton State.
