Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Aggies upended by Lions on the road, 86-53

COMMERCE, Texas – A poor shooting night led the Aggies to an 86-53 loss at Texas A&M-Commerce on Wednesday night.  Cameron shot a season low 29 percent and fell to 9-6 overall and 1-2 in the Lone Star Conference, while the Lions who were receiving votes in this week's NABC poll moved up to 12-3 and 2-1 in league play.

The normally sure-handed Aggies came into Commerce tied for second in the nation in shooting and averaging over 83 points a game were held to their lowest total in over a year.

Deondre Ray led the Aggies with 19 points and came up two short of a double-double with eight rebounds.   Jamaal Brantley was the only other CU player in double-figures with 10 points and he added seven rebounds.

Wednesday night was the only the second time this season CU had a lower shooting percentage than an opposing  team, as they went 35 percent from arc and only 50 percent at the charity stripe.   A&M-Commerce would go 47.8 percent on their side of the floor and 38.9 percent from long-range.

Cameron would be out-rebounded 49 to 38 and they had difficult time containing Darrell Williams who netted 25 points and grabbed 16 rebounds for a double-double.

The Lions handled the Aggies in the first half and held Cameron to only one bucket in the final 10 minutes while putting up a 23 point, 50-27 advantage into the locker room.  Cameron would shoot 30 percent from the field with nine made baskets, five of which were from the arc.   Texas A&M-Commerce went 54.1 percent from the field with Darrell Williams a rebound short of a double-double with 13 points.  Jamaal Brantley paced CU with seven first half points.

Cameron struggles continued to mount in the second half as they would shoot 9-for-32 from the field never could gain ground on the Lions who would close out the game with a 33 point win.

The loss for Cameron is their second in a row and they will return home to host number-10 ranked Tarleton State on Saturday at 4 p.m.
