Aggies look to keep momentum going at Kingsville

First tip: The Cameron men aim to keep the momentum going at Texas A&M-Kingsville continuing off an 80-79 victory over No. 11 Angelo State on Wednesday to close out a three game home stand. The Aggies have won their past two contests at home while the Javelinas have dropped their past two games on the road. Cameron is led by Jamaal Brantley who is number-seven in the LSC in both scoring (15.2 ppg) and rebounding (6.9). Cameron Lee is next with 14 ppg; JV Long is second in the league in steals with 1.8 takeaways per contest. Additionally, the Aggies are number-three in the LSC in field goal percentages at 47.5%.

Last time out: Deondre Ray hit a second chance tip-in to give the Aggies an 80-79 win over #11 Angelo State on Wednesday evening to close out CU's three game home stand.  The Aggies rallied back from 12 points down in the final five minutes to go with Ray providing his first career double-double performance. 

Ray ended the night with 19 points and 10 boards, Jamaal Brantley would be the team's leading scorer with 20, and he added seven rebounds.  JV Long came up with 18 points, which was his second highest scoring game of his career.  Cameron Lee knocked in 13 points and had five rebounds.

The Aggies would shoot 29-for-61 (47.5%) from the field, slightly better than ASU's 31-for-70 (44.3%).  Cameron knocked down eight treys and shot a season high 42.1% at the arc.  In rebounding, CU would have 45 which were 11 more than the Rams.

About Texas A&M-Kingville: The Javelinas are 9-7 overall and 1-4 in the LSC with their lone league victory coming to Eastern New Mexico. The team has dropped their past two contests on the road to West Texas A&M and Midwestern State. TAMUK is last in field goal percentages in the LSC (37.4%) but second in free throw percentages (69.3%). They are shooting 30.2% behind the arc. The Javelinas have three players averaging roughly 11 ppg in Troy Jones, Jamar Goodwin, and DJ Weathers. Jones is fourth in the LSC at the charity stripe, shooting 79.2%. Additionally, TAMUK is last in the league at rebounding, averaging 12.3 offensive boards and 25.5 defensive boards per game.
 
CU vs. TAMUK Series: Texas A&M-Kingville holds a slight 17-18 series advantage over the Aggies  However, the series is home-friendly for both programs with the Aggies holding a 3-8 record in the LSC's furthest south program.  Cameron has dropped their last four contests at Kingsville with a 57-47 win during the 2010-11 season as the teams only one in the last ten seasons.  In two season's has CU's head coach, Nate Gamet is 2-2 when facing the Javelinas.
