Deondre Ray hit a second chance tip-in to give the Aggies the one point edge over No. 11 ASU. The Aggies rallied back from 12 points down in the final five minutes to go with Ray providing his first career double-double performance. Cameron picked up the only LSC road victory on Saturday defeating TAMUK on the road for the first time since the 2010-11 season. Ray scored 14 points and grabbed ten boards for his second double-double of the week with 2013 being the last time an Aggie achieved a back-to-back double-double.
James Cross had a career high 13 rebounds to go with 11 points for his first career double-double.
JV Long led the Aggies in scoring with 17 points and five assists.
About Midwestern State: No. 6 Midwestern State holds a half-game lead over Cameron heading into Saturday's contest. In their last game, the Mustangs had their 13-game winning streak snapped 91-83 in overtime Saturday at Angelo State bringing their overall record to 16-2 and 5-1 in the LSC. In that game, MSU senior Khapri Alston posted the most rebounds of any player in NCAA Division I/II this season going for 27 points and 25 rebounds. The Mustangs rank amongst national leaders in numerous categories this season ranking second in rebound margin (+10.2), second in blocked shots per game (6.5), second in total blocks (117.0), third in field goal percentage defense (37.3), fifth in scoring margin (+18.3), sixth in defensive rebounds (31.17), 12th in total rebounds 808.0) and 23rd in 3-point field goal percentage (40.2).
CU vs. MSU Series: Saturday night will be the 70th meeting between the Aggies and Mustangs with Midwestern State leading the overall series 45-24. Cameron finished their 2014-15 season with back-to-back games against Midwestern State with the Mustangs winning 73-67 in Wichita Falls and the Aggies upsetting MSU 87-84 in overtime at the LSC Tournament. However, Cameron has struggled in Wichita Falls and has dropped their last 17 in a row at MSU and have won only three times at Midwestern State (1968, 1979, 1990).
