Men's basketball hosts the Javelinas for LSC home opener

First Tip: 
- Cameron is on an emotional high right now after coming from behind and beating Lubbock Christian on a half-court buzzer beater last week. The Aggies, who shot 46.4 percent from the field, were down nine with 1:26 left and used a 14-2 run down the stretch capped off by a last second heave by Tyler Williams to come away with the 79-76 win. Cameron now has six wins against members of the South Central Region and has an overall record of 8-3 and a 1-1 LSC mark. They face a Javelinas team that is 7-2, but have yet to play a conference game.   
- The Aggies have used defense as their calling card for their first 11 games, as they are third in the LSC holding opponents to 67.1 points per game, fourth in field goal defense at 40.3 percent, and third in three point defense, with opponents shooting just 30.9 percent from the perimeter against them. On the offensive end, CU is averaging 74.5 points per game, while shooting 40.9 percent from the field and 35.7 percent from long range. They average 39.3 rebounds and 14.5 assists per game, while turning the ball over just 11.1 times per contest. On defense, the Aggies average 2.55 blocked shots and 6.64 steals, while turning their opponents over 15.4 times per game. 
- Cameron's top scorer is Williams, who averages just under 13 points, while Tyus Momoh averages 12.4, and Trey Hall and JV Long average just over 10 points a game. Momoh and Hall are two of the top three point shooters in the LSC, while Long is top-10 in free throw percentage. Long and Momoh average just over three assists each and are two and three in the conference assist/turnover ratio rankings. Delvonte Pierre leads CU with 5.5 rebounds per contest, while Williams leads the team with 1.5 assists per game.   

About Texas A&M-Kingsville: 
- Texas A&M-Kingsville is now 7-2 after their 71-53 win over St. Mary's on Tuesday. The Javelinas shot 43 percent from the field and went 16-21 from the charity stripe, while holding the Rattlers to 38 percent from the field and 23.1 percent from long range. Trey Sumpter totaled 17 points and seven rebounds in the win.
- Overall, Kingsville, like Cameron, prides themselves on defense, holding opponents to 63.3 points per game, while scoring just 70.6. They shoot 42.7 percent from the field and 32.6 from three point range. TAMUK records a league low 34.1 rebounds per game and averages 12.8 assists, and on defense, they are third in the LSC with 4.56 blocks and seventh with 7.44 steals per contest.
- Individually, Trey Sumpter leads the team with 15.2 points per game, while both Duan Wright and Caelan Neal average just over 10 points. Sumpter also leads the team with 5.4 rebounds per contest, and Derrick Byrd has a team leading 2.7 assists per game.
