STEPHENVILLE, Texas – A big fourth quarter comeback by Tarleton State would lead to an extra frame where the Cameron women's basketball team fell 90-89 in overtime on Saturday.
After commanding the lead for the entire game, the Aggies opened up a 17 point advantage to start the fourth quarter, but the TexAnns outscored CU 25-11 to tie it up at 81-81 at the end of regulation.
In overtime, TSU drained a three-pointer with 1:14 left for the contest's last score as Cameron missed their two shot attempts in the final minute for the loss.
Four Aggies scored in the double figures with
Charron Montgomery,
Jamie Bonnarens and
Natalie Halbleib all tallying a career high 20 points, while
Savanna James added 13 points.
Halbeleib complimented her performance with four steals and 14 rebounds to nab her third straight double-double, and Bonnarens also double-doubled with ten boards.
Cameron shot 33-for-77 from the floor, 7-for-16 from behind the arc and 16-for-22 at the line. The Aggies accounted for 18 second chance points and outrebounded the TexAnns by ten with 53 boards.
Makenzie Hailey led the TexAnns with 23 points helping them to shoot 34-for-74 from the field, 5-for-15 from out deep and 17-for-28 at the charity stripe.
Cameron drops to 2-6 overall and 0-2 in the Lone Star Conference, while Tarleton State moves to 3-4 overall and 2-0 in the league.
