MAGNOLIA, Ark. – A
Sonora Zukerman walk off hit in the bottom of the ninth gave the Aggies a 3-2 win over Southwest Baptist in their second game on Saturday afternoon. Both starters were locked in with nine total hits being recorded in the contest. Â
Emily Wasinger (1-0) in her first start went all nine innings and only gave up three hits while striking out six; both of SBU's runs were unearned.Â
Cameron only had six hits but drew eight walks with
Nikki Horton getting on-base three times with two hits and a walk; the Cache native has 12 hits in 20 at-bats this season.Â
The Aggies picked up an early run in the second off of a SBU error but in the next frame a two out double scored two unearned runs to put the Ags behind.Â
In the fourth,
Chelsea DeLong opened with a single to right field, she would end up at second with two outs for
Carly Allerheiligen who singled to center field to tie the game at two.
It would take until the ninth for either starter to blink and Horton opened the inning with an infield single and walks from
Breezy McComas and
Paige Daino loaded the bases with one out. Zukerman would hit a 2-1 count through the left side to score Horton in from third for the win.
Cameron will move up to 5-1 this season and Southwest Baptist will fall to 1-2; they will close out the weekend on Sunday with games against Delta State and Southern Arkansas starting at 2 p.m.Â
