LAWTON, Okla. – The Cameron men's basketball team could not secure a second half comeback attempt to fall 73-65 to Texas A&M-Commerce on Saturday evening.
The Aggies drained 13 three-pointers in the game but could not match the Lions from the field and line.
Delvonte Pierre made four of CU's treys and led the Aggies with 14 points. Tyus Momoh was the other Ag in double digits with 11 points. JV Long grabbed a team high nine boards and seven assists.
Cameron struggled in the first half, falling behind by as much as 11 points but drained three straight treys to cut the deficit in half.
CU trailed 35-29 at the half after shooting 37 percent from the field while the Lions shot 40 percent.
The Aggies would pick up the pace out of the locker room to take their first lead (49-47) of the second half by going on a 14-4 run over five minutes.
After trading the lead back and forth, the Aggies trailed by four points heading into the final minute but would go scoreless to the buzzer and fall 73-65 for their second loss in a row.
Overall Cameron shot 40 percent from the field, 52 percent from beyond the arc and 60 percent at the line.
The Lions shot 42 percent on the floor, 29 percent from down town and 67 percent from the stripe.
Cameron drops to 13-8 overall and 6-5 in the Lone Star Conference. TAMUC moves to 15-5 and 7-4 in the league.
