Men's basketball faces a tough test, hosting the Falcons and the No. 11 Buffs

Game Notes

First Tip:
- After taking on an undefeated Angelo State last Saturday, the Aggies now have to battle the top-2 scoring teams in the Lone Star Conference in UT Permian Basin and no. 11 West Texas A&M.
- Cameron is now 9-5 and 2-2 in league play after falling to No. 7/9 ASU 81-77 in their last contest; The Aggies led by as much as eight just over halfway through the first quarter, but the Rams shot over 57 percent from the field in the second half to secure the four point win.
- Tyus Momoh led CU with 15 points and a career high six steals, but went just 3-12 from three point range, while Tyler Williams chipped in 13 points and seven rebounds JV Long had 12 points, six rebounds, and five assists.
- Cameron is averaging 74.5 points per game, shooting 40.2 percent from the field, 34.6 percent from deep, and 66.7 percent from the free throw line.
- On defense, CU holds opponents to scoring 69.7 points per game, while shooting 42 percent from the field and 31.8 percent from three point range.
- The Aggies excel at not giving the ball away, averaging just 10.9 turnovers per game (17th in the nation), while leading the LSC with a 1.35 assist/turnover ratio.
-Cameron is averaging 39.1 rebounds, 14.7 assists, 6.8 steals, and 2.8 blocks per contest.
- Williams (12.6), Momoh (12.4), and Long (10.1) all average over 10 points per game, while Long leads CU with 5.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists per contest.

About UT-Permian Basin:
- The Falcons have had a long break from playing, as their last game came back on Dec. 10, when they defeated Dallas Baptist 75-63.
- UTPB is sixth best in the nation on offense, averaging 96.1 points per contest; they have score 90 or more points in all but three of their 12 contests this season.
- Permian Basin is shooting 47.8 percent from the field, 36 percent from the perimeter, and a league best 74.6 percent from the free throw line.
- Opponents are scoring just over 80 points against UTPB, while shooting 40.3 percent from the field and 31.6 percent from three point range.
- The Falcons are one of the top rebounding teams in the nation, averaging 46.2 boards per contest, and out-rebounding their opponents by a margin of 12.1
- Four UTPB players average 10-plus points per game, with Daeshon Francis (19.8) and Johnnie Lacy (17.7) ranking in the top-5 in the LSC.

- Both of their matchups came back in November of 2013.

About West Texas A&M:
- The Buffs have won 10 straight since falling to Lubbock Christian back on Nov. 17; most recently, they defeated the NAIA No. 5 team Oklahoma City 95-63 on New Year's Eve.
- WT is second best in the nation in scoring offense, averaging 89.9 points per game, while allowing 74.6 points to their opponents.
- They are shooting 46.9 percent from the field, 36.3 percent from three point range, and 72 percent from the free throw line; WT is ranked first in the nation in free throws made and second in three pointers made.
- The Buffs opponents are shooting 44 percent from the field and 34.3 percent from the perimeter.
- WT is averaging 39.2 rebounds, 14.8 assists, 3.8 blocks, and eight blocks.
- LSC Preseason Player of the Year, David Chavlovich leads the team and is second in the LSC with 20.3 points per game, while Jordan Evans averaged 13.7 points.
- Chavlovich also leads WT with 4.6 assists per contest, while Carl White and Jerrod Walton are the top rebounders, averaging just over five boards apiece per game.

- The series is split in the last 10 meetings, with two of those meetings coming in the LSC Tournament.

Next week, the Aggies make their long trip to New Mexico as they take on Eastern New Mexico on Thursday, Jan. 12, and then Western New Mexico on Saturday, Nov. 14.
