WARRENSBURG, Mo. –
Tyus Momoh led the Aggies with 20 points as Cameron took down Central Missouri 77-63 on Thursday night.
Momoh shot an efficient 7-11 from the field, while going 3-5 from the perimeter and 3-4 from the free throw line. The junior guard also grabbed seven rebounds to tie for the team high.
In the first half, after batting to start the game, CU used a 9-0 run to go up 20-11 at the 9:25 mark. The Mules came back and made a late run to tie the game at 32, but a jumper from
Delano Jones with just three seconds left in the half gave the Aggies the 34-32 advantage at the break.
Cameron shot 50 percent from the field and 60 percent from three in the first 20 minutes of play with
Tyler Williams leading the way with eight points; Momoh had seven at the half. UCM shot just under 43 percent from the field through one half, with Jakob Lowrence leading all scorers with 17 points.
The Aggies felt in control for the rest of the game, improving their lead to 20 points by the 8:13 mark. They ended the game on a 6-3 run to win, 77-63.
Williams finished the game with 14 points and tied Momoh for a team high seven rebounds, while
Zach Dumas chipped in 11 points and
Bryce Elie had 11 as well. As a team, CU shot 51 percent from the field, 50 percent from three, and 80 percent from the charity stripe while scoring 32 points in the paint and 19 points off of 11 UCM turnovers.
Lowrance scored just three points in the second half for the Mules, finishing the game with 20 points, while Blake Spellman had 11 and Clarence Smith and DJ Richardson each had 10. Central Missouri struggled shooting the ball, going just 41.5 percent from the field and hitting just 7-29 from three point range.
Cameron's win moves them to 2-1 on the year while UCM also moves to 2-1 overall.
The Aggies will be back in action in Warrensburg on Friday as they play Maryville at 4 p.m. in their second game of the Fairfield Inn Classic.
